The 60th Royal Americans,
3rd Battalion Kings' Regiment of Foot
The 60th was formed in December 1755 and consisted of American colonist of various backgrounds (English, Swiss, Germans, etc.) who had knowledge of the land Indians, and frontier fighting. They were tasked to assist other regular British regiments in the fight against the France – during the French and Indian War (1754 – 1763). The 60th saw various action in the Northwest Territories, southeast during the revolutionary War, the West Indies, and Florida until 1784.
Our re-enactment group is affiliated with the Historic Florida Militia in St. Augustine where in December we re-enact activities during the British occupation of East Florida (1763 – 1783) and in June, Oglethorpe's Siege of t. Augustine (1740). We also attend major re-enactments in Georgia and the Carolinas.
