Company of La Cruz 1513AD. The 16th Century Company of La Cruz is a nonprofit group dedicated to commemorating and re-enacting the history of the first Spanish Entradas into Florida in the 1500’s and their impact upon the indigenous peoples. These include the Panfilo de Narvaez, Hernando DeSoto and Pedro Menendez expeditions.
Our Goals are:
- To support historic preservation through educational programming and hands-on experience.
- To offer a multicultural approach to programming by encouraging people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds to participate with dignity and pride.
- To portray the blending of Native American, European, and African peoples in Florida history so that residents and visitors alike will learn to appreciate its value.
- To foster appreciation of Florida's rich cultural history through reenactments, public speaking and workshops.
- To support the preservation of archaeological sites associated with Florida's first peoples and Spanish contact.
